These are great little guitars, unfortunately some of them come out of the shop with a very high playing action. A fairly easy job to put right though…
Starting at the top, with the action height at the first fret. This one was OK, otherwise it’s a simple job to cut the slots in the nut a little deeper.
Next the curve, or set, in the neck. This one was a little large…..
so a tighten the truss-rod a little.
The playing action at the 12th fret was also rather high so I need to reduce the height of the saddle. The only way to do that is with a grinding wheel. Measuring up I think about 5/64″ off the bass side and 8/64″ off the treble….
I always fix the saddle to a block of wood to make sure the bottom ends up square and flat..
With it back in place the action is just right….
Finish it off with a polish and it’s done…
