A fairly simple repair although setting up some guitars is a little more difficult…
The bottom of the nut blank didn’t quite fit the slot. It’s a 7½” radius rather than the 10″ of the fretboard.
While the strings are off it’s always worth giving the fretboard a good clean and oil.
Here is the difficult part, how to adjust the set in the neck whan the truss-rod adjustment is on the bottom of the heel? The easy answer is to bolt it on the neck jig. That way you can fit the strings at tension and still get to the truss-rod screw.
With the neck back on the guitar it’s time to cut the slots in the new nut.
With the action at the first fret I’ll reset the bridge height…..
and finally check the intonation.
which was a little out.
And there we go, as good as new…
