Jacksons have never been my style, I find them a little too extreme, but this one is nice.
The main problem is the Floyd Rose is rather worn, in particular the screw threads have been stripped out
There really isn’t much I can do with that but replace it.
At some point the Guitar has also been dropped which has left a bit of a crack in the paint finish and the neck at a bit of an angle. The strings aren’t quite central at the last fret.
I think the crack is only in the surface finish so I’m not going to interfere too much with it, I don’t want to make anything worse but I’m going to try to reset the neck, to put the strings back the centre of the neck.
Sadly the owner is suffering from a touch of arthritis in his fingers and so wants slightly lighter strings. Since I’m fitting a new Floyd Rose I’m going to have to adjust the setup anyway. Bit of a pitty actually, since it’s really sweet right now. I’ve made a careful note of the setup points and will replicate them as closely as possible with the new trem’.
With the new tremolo fitted and the neck screws loosened I managed to get the neck realigned.
The next phase is quite simple just a bit of a pain in the *** , setting up the Floyd Rose. It’s not difficult just time-consuming, everything you touch and adjust throws everything else out. Patience!!
Job done…
