Custom Built Spanish – 8th update
Its finally getting close! almost done… Today I put the frets in and levelled the edges.Although I’ve got the length right and a 45° angle on the edge they still need a little bit of work to remove the sharp edges.Might even be finished soon… Keep watching, to see it from the beginning click here. Custom Built Spanish 6th update
As it was a little quiet last week I did a little more on the Spanish. I’ve put some fret markers on the side of the fretboard. Using the pillar drill to drill the holes. The markers come as a long thin plastic rod. Glue the end into the holes… and cut it just slightly […]
Custom Built Spanish 5th Update
I don’t seem to get much time to work on this one, but it’s been a little quiet this week so I’ve finished off the bridge. The 2 white strips are bone so that the strings don’t cut into the wood when they are tied on. I’ve still got to cut the saddle for the […]
Custom Built Spanish 4th update
After a busy week I had a fairly quiet weekend. I had a little bit of a rub around the Spanish Acoustic I’ve been building for the last 18 months or so. It occurred to me that I hadn’t published any pictures for ages and its come on a long way. The neck was just […]
Custom Built Spanish – 2nd Update
I’ve actually done quite a bit more, I’ve just been too busy to update the blog. The neck and fingerboard are just about done. They’ll need a final bit of sanding and final treating but the shape is there. The top is coming along, I’ve got it to the right thickness and have the sound-hole cut. […]
Spanish Acoustic – Final Update
Well its done. It didn’t come out quite as well as I would have liked. I just couldn’t find the right shade of wood veneer, but its better than the hole it had to start with! Click here to see the start of this project. A comment from the owner: “Thankyou very much George for […]
Spanish Acoustic – 2nd Update
Having chosen the piece of wood I’ve cut out a slot on the guitar and a matching slice of veneer. Glue the piece of veneer in place… Once the glue has dried, its sanded in to get a smooth surface and some lacquer it should look OK. To see the final results click here.
Spanish Acoustic – 1st Update
Things didn’t work out quite as I would have liked. The colour match wasn’t quite right and the damage to cover is a little too large. Since it’s in such a prominent position, right on top, it will need some closer attention. I’ve found some small pieces of wood veneer on e-bay, I just need to work out which […]
Custom Built Spanish – 1st update
Had a little spare time this week so I’ve done a little more on the Spanish. I’ve got the fret-board levelled and fret slots cut.
