Gibson ES335 with newly fitted Bigsby B7, Roller bridge and String Butler

Gibson ES335 – Bigsby

I do love a semi-acoustic, and I love a Bigsby.  So why not put one on a 335? While I’m at it I’m going to change the bridge for one with rollers saddles since Bigsby tremolos are notorious for not staying in tune.  I’m also going to fit a String Butler as the headstock shape […]

The Ventures

Now here’s a good looking guitar, I rather like it. As with lots of these Korean guitars, it’s not terribly well built.  I’ve seen a lot worse, and I’m sure it can be sorted out. The trem’ is a little high and the owner want’s it blocked to only go down.  That’ll make sure it returns to […]

Telecaster – Bone nut and setup

What a fantastic looking guitar.  Got to love a Tele’, but a Tele with a Bigsby, even better! That black and white finish look just great. There’s some problems with the bridge though.  It’s sitting rather low, I’m not sure if it’s able to rock backwards and forwards properly?  The trouble is, if I raise it […]

Bone Nut

This one rather sits at the bottom end of the market, but even so, it should play OK.  This one had a very strange “buzzing” sound.  It’s all down to the cheap plastic nut with its overly slack slots. The only way to cure that is to fit a decent nut.The blank was just a […]

Tremol-No

What a great idea.  A real easy way to lock your trem’ in place. It just replaces the claw for the trem’ springs and has a rod that locks into the trem’ block. The thumb wheels can either lock the trem’ or be loosened off to allow the trem’ to move as normal.
