I can’t say as I really like these, but a classic nonetheless. This one’s going to get an upgrade with a new pair of pickups…While the pickguard is off, wiring in the new pickups, I also gave the pots and switch a clean….
Also, while the strings were off, I gave the fretboard a good clean…and oil…The new pickups..
With it all back together It needs setting up to make the most of the new pickups.
First the neck set…Just small turn of the truss-rod.Next the action at the 12th fret, just a little high, which means lowering the bridge a shade. Then the action at the 1st fret, again a little high…so take the slots down a little…
Now the intonation. This proved to be more of a problem as there wasn’t enough adjustment available in the saddles. In the end I took the bridge off and turned the 3 treble end saddles round,
Before…
After…
Lastly since the pickups have just been fitted I need to set their heights..
That’s just a starting point, I’ll pug it in and listen to it, check the outputs properly.
There we go, looking and sounding great.
