Now this is a lovely guitar, a pity it’s just got that Gibson inconsistency about it. Some of the frets are rather uneven.
The first one’s particularly low.
The only way to really sort that lot out is with a fret-dress. There we go, with the fretboard flat, the nut removed and taped up to protect it while I work.
Ready to start grinding…
There were a couple of worn spots as well…
With the tops level they just need rounding off again.
and re-polishing.
With that done all it needs is a bit of clean…..
and oil…
…….before putting new strings on and checking the setup.
The neck set was about right…
Just a small tweek on the truss-rod.
The action at the 12th fret was fine…
……as was the action at the 1st fret.
There it is. A really lovely guitar, well it is now anyway!
And a lovely piece of wood in the back as well.
