This needs a little TLC if it’s going to play again. The bridge saddle is badly damaged so I’m going to make a new one.
The nut’s broken as well, so that’ll need to be replaced as well.
First the nut. From a bone blank.
Next the saddle, using the old one as guide.
One of the machine heads was also rather wonky…
It rather looks like its had woodworm, or been machine-gunned!
I gently drilled and plugged the holes..
before levelling the top and re-drilling the screw hole (in the right place).
There’s the new saddle.
The nut took a little more work. I left the slots a little high so that I could set the action once the strings were at full tension.
Cut each string slot down with a nut file.
There it is. Ready for action again.
