What a lovely Strat’, I never really used to like this colour, but it’s growing on me. There’s nothing much wrong with it mind you, just needs a bit of a setup.
The first problem however was getting the old strings off… Why the plate on the back was on the wrong I’ve no idea? But I’ve got to take it off to adjust the tremolo anyway.
While the strings were off I gave the fretboard a good clean. It wasn’t particularly bad but I still got some dirt off….
With the new strings fitted the first thing that became apparent was the tremolo, it was sitting far too flat..
so I slackened off the trem’ claw screws a little…
Thant’s better…
All that’s needed now is a standard 5 point setup…
1. The neck set.
Just a little flat with the new strings so a tweek on the truss-rod.
2. The action at the 12th fret, way too high…
so drop the bridge saddles down. Start with the outside “E” strings then match the others to the radius of the fretboard.
3. The Action at the 1st fret
a little high on the Bass side so I took the slots down a bit.
4. The Intonation.
5. The pickup heights.
The she goes, ready to Rock & Roll….
