What a lovely guitar, just needs a little work.
The high “E” string keeps popping out of the slot for one. A new nut will sort that out.
The pickups aren’t quite up to spec so I’m going to send them off to Radioshop Pickups and have them re-wound.
While it’s apart I’m going to tidy up the odd bits and bobs, like the left over plastic film under the pickup switch locking ring etc.
While the strings are off I gave the fretboard a good clean…
and oil.
Ah, the re-wound pickups…
A little bit fiddly, these are a little more complicated than most.
That’s the pick-guard back in place.
So to that nut. It’s rather low so the treble “E” string keeps popping out of its slot.
The only way to deal with that is to fit a new one.
First making sure the bottom fits the curve in the nut slot, the same as the radius across the fret-board.
It’s also slightly too long.
There it is. It’ll still need some work doing, as a part of the setup.
To get the action at the first fret I need to cut the slots down a little.
That does leave the top a little tall.
So take the strings off again and file it down a little.
So there it is, ready to rock, and sounding fantastic.
