It’s very sad but even the big boys turn out duff guitars sometimes. Nothing that can’t be fixed, but you really shouldn’t have too!Not really a very good advert especially as it’s a special edition…
There are some really high frets causing some nasty fret buzzing.
The only way to sort that is to file them all down to the lowest common point.
All taped up to protect it while I’m working…
Making sure the fretboard is completely flat before I start.
using the flat beam so it only touches the high points…
You can see it’s not even touching the first fret, only just touching the second yet has taken quite a bit off the 3rd. I’ll keep going until I’m down to all the low points.
Next re-shape the fret tops… and re-polish them.
While the strings are off I also oiled the fretboard as it was so dry.
With the strings back on I now need to complete a standard 5 point setup.
1. The neck set…2. The bridge height (measuring the action at the 12th fret).3. The action at the 1st fret..
Still a little high…4. The intonation. You do need a good accurate tuner for that.5. Lastly the pickup heights, to get a god balance of outputs..There we go, how it should have been when it came out of the factory..
