You’d have thought this job would be easy, but if you really want it done properly there’s a little more to it.
One of the pickup rings took a knock and broke so needs to be replaced. The trouble is the classic Gibson rings have a flat bottom and aren’t flexible enough to bend around the top of a Les Paul.
I started by marking up the rough shape and cutting it roughly with sharp snips.
Put some low-tac tape and adhesive backed sand paper on the top of the guitar and gently sand down the bottom of the new ring.
There we go now it fits.
It also needs a couple of slots for the scratch plate.
Having re-mounted the pickup the height needs setting. I’ll check it properly later by plugging it in.
There we go, good as new…
