Got handed this one with a “What can you do with this”? Mainly it’s just missing a nut and one of the bridge pins. The frets are a little worn as well so I’m going to give them a dress as well.
It’s seen a lot of action around those open chords..
Once they’re level, round them off and polish them again.
Once the frets were done I gave the fretboard a good clean and oil.
Back to that missing nut.
I’ve got a blank that’s almost done, so it doesn’t need too much work to make it fit. A spot of glue to keep it in place this time.
I’ve also found a nice set of boxwood bridge pins, much nicer than plastic ones.
With a new set of strings all in needs now is a setup, starting with the neck set. I don’t need to measure that one, that gap’s huge.
so tighten up the truss-rod a turn or two.
It brought the action at the 12th fret down quite nicely as well.
so all that’s left is the action at the 1st fret. Rather huge with that new nut.
So cut the string slots down a lump.
There it goes, good as new (probably better).
