I’m not really a fan of metal music or guitars but here’s something striking…
Its got some fundamental problems but I should be able to sort them out. The first problem is the unevenness of the frets, It’ll never play well like that so I’ll level them off before setting it up again. The other problem is the angle of the neck at the body, it’s just a little off, the strings are closer to the treble side than the bass.
The first thing then, get the neck off, tape it up to protect the fretboard and adjust the truss-rod to make sure it’s flat.Starting to work on the frets with the levelling beam you can see where some of the frets are very high where some others haven’t even been touched yet.It took quite a while and it left the fret tops very flat but I’ve got down to the low points.Next I’ll re-shape each fret top and polish with micromesh to bring back the shine..With the frets sorted I took a little wood off the side of the neck pocket so the neck sits squarely in the body now…Now the setup, first the neck set.and then a standard setup, action at the 12th fret, 1st fret and intonation etc. There we go, ready for action…
A final word from the owner:
“The only guitar repair man I’ll use from now on! George turned my shabby playing Kramer into what feels like a dream! Definitely sorted the problems it had out and will use again! Thanks George!”
