It really is a stunning piece of wood…
As much as it’s a really nice guitar the owner wasn’t 100% happy with it, it was just choking out a little on the Bass E string, around the 2nd and 3rd fret.
I had a look at the setup and the neck had a nice set and the action at the 1st and 12th frets was fine….
Could be a little lower…..
The problem was the age old one of uneven frets. The 2nd was just very slightly high, not much, but enough to upset someone with a fine touch. The trouble is it really isn’t possible to file down one fret, you have to level them all….
First remove the nut and adjust the truss rod to flatten the neck..
Tape up the fret-board to protect it…
It only needed a fairly light touch since they weren’t too far out. After the dress, fit the new strings and complete a full setup.
Not that it really needed it but a quick clean and polish to finish it off..
I think I want one!!
A word or two from the owner:
