I’ve never been a fan of this sort of thing, and Vintage Guitars are not the best, but this one worked out quite well.
There are a couple of bits missing, but they should be easy to find…
The trem’ was a little gummed up, so I stripped it all down to clean each part.
The frert-board was also a little grubby so give that a god clean too.
and a little lemon oil to bring the wood back to life.
There’s the trem back together, with the new arm bush. It was at this point I noticed the saddles have been swapped around at some point so the heights were all over the place.
Before fitting the strings I gave the electrics a once over to make sure they’re all working properly.
With the strings fitted the trem’ was sitting a little low….
so slacken off the springs a little.
So now into the setup properly. Firstly the neck set, rather too much curve..
so tighten the truss-rod a turn or so.
With that done the action up at the 12th fret was very low…
so up with the bridge posts..
with the playing action about right, set the intonation.
with a check of the pickup heights it’s just about done.
And there it is, ready for action.
