I’m still not really sure about these. There’s certainly nothing seriously wrong with them, in fact they’re terrific for money. I just can’t put my finger on it.
Anyway, I’ve had this one on the bench before and already done quite a bit to it, I’ve dressed the frets and performed a full setup on it so it plays really nicely. The owner’s now come up with an option to make it sound as good as it looks and feels… A nice set of Seymour Duncan pickups.
To add a little flexibility I’m also changing the pots’ for “Push Push” ones, so that each pickup can be coil tapped to act and sound as a single coil.
There it is. I’ve replaced the wiring with better quality wire along with a nice Orange Drop tone cap’
Once the strings are back just a tweek to set the pickup heights. Of course the only real way to judge that is to plug it in….
There it is, looking, playing and now sounding great.
