What a lovely guitar. I’m not sure if it’s been under a bed or at the back of a wardrobe but it’s not been played for ages and needed a good cleanup and service.
The electrics were the biggest problem, scratchy and crackling at best, and plain just not working at worst.
To be sure I pulled the control knobs….
and removed the pots’. They might have been OK with a cleanup but it’s hardly worth the effort so I replaced them with new ones..
While the strings were off I gave the frets a good clean and polish and oiled the fretboard as it was rather dry.
A new set of strings followed by a 5 point setup..
No1. The neck set..
with a small turn on the truss-rod.
No 2. The action at the 12th fret…
a little high so lower the bridge a little.
No 3. The action at the 1st fret. Quite low but just about OK…
No 4. The intonation…
No 5. The pickup heights.
A bit of polish on the body and it’s good to go, ready to Rock ‘n’ Roll again.
