Why should a brand new guitar like this need a setup. Simple answer, it shouldn’t. However it’s been built a long way away, in a Californian desert, and travelled half way round the world. How many temperature and humidity changes has it been through?
It’s not really that bad, just needs a twist here and a turn there….
A really lovely ‘Tele…
The neck was actually a little flat, unusual, most necks come with a little to much of a curve.
so just slacken off the truss-rod a little.
The action was also a little low, no wonder there was a little fret buzzing going on.
So I raised up the two outside “E” strings to get rid of that.
Then raised the other strings to match the fretboard radius.
The action at the 1st fret was fine.
The intonation was also quite a way out, but easily sorted.
Lastly the pickup heights. Just a starting point, I’ll plug it in and have a listen to what it sounds like.
Now that’s how you would expect it, a really great Telecaster.
A word or 2 from the owner:
“Got in touch with George after being impressed with his work on his website. My tele now plays incredibly. Have already got some friends interested! Will be visiting again soon for a pickup swap out.
Thank you again George!!“
