Fender Stratocaster – Neck transplant.

A rather nice Stratocaster.  The owner just didn’t like the neck profile so found a replacement.

Swapping a neck theoretically should be easy, it’s only 4 screws after all.

If you get a genuine Fender neck, as this is then yes, it will fit straight in, but you will need to re-adjust the setup.  Likewise will your old heads fit?  In this case no.

I could have made them  fit, but the screw holes would show.  We elected to find a nice new set of Gotohs that will fit exactly.

While I was at it the owner also wanted the lower tone control to work on the bridge pickup.  It’s quite a simple wiring fix, just add one small extra wire.  It does mean taking the guitar apart mind you.

The only other missing element is a string tree.  Definitely need at least one on any Fender.

I’ve not shown the setup, but it goes without saying that the bridge height needed to be reset and the nut slots cut to the right depth.

There it is, ready to go.
